Adding indicators to your dashboard or report page
Indicators are essential components of Publisher, creating visual representations of Metrics for inclusion in reports and dashboards. Users can link to existing Indicators or create new Indicators.
From the editing window of a dashboard or report page, click (+) to add a new content box and select Indicator from the menu.
The Indicator Library will open and will display any existing Indicators.
The Indicator Library is a repository for all existing Indicators in the user's account that have been created in Publisher. By default, the Library is empty, but as soon as an Indicator is added to a report page or dashboard it will be added to the Library and will be available to use elsewhere. A search bar and filters are available at the top of the Indictor Library window to assist in finding the correct Indicator. Search by Indicator name, of filter by graph type, Metric used, or dashboards and report pages the Indicator is used by.
Select the desired Indicator from the Indicator Library to add an existing Indicator to your dashboard or report page. To create a new Indicator, click Create a new indicator in the top right of the window.
Create a new indicator
Since an Indicator is a visual representation of a Metric, after clicking Create a new indicator a Metric needs to be selected. Metrics that are hosted in the user’s SDM account and are ready to use will be available for selection.
Once a Metric is selected, specify the desired chart type to be used for the Indicator display. The available chart types include:
- Bar
- Table
- Pie
- Double Graph
- Funnel
- Line
- Radar
- Radial
- Scatter Plot
- Stream
- Map
Then, the attributes of the pivot table must be specified. Click the Attributes tab in the side bar on the right of the window to edit the values. To edit the specifics of each field, click Add next to each field and select the desired elements.
Lastly, visual elements can be edited by clicking the Styles tab. Click Save in the top right of the window when the Indicator is complete.
Once saved, the Indicator will appear in the dashboard or report page that was being edited. By clicking into the Indicator in the dashboard or report page editor, Indicator details and further editing options will appear. The dashboard or report page view also provides options for downloading the Indicator and for adjusting the chart view. Downloading options include SVG vector image, PNG image, JPEG image, CSV, and XLS.
