Review Data Sources Structure - Best Practices for Customers

Welcome to the tipsheet for reviewing Data Sources Structure in Nasdaq Metrio to prepare for data entry. Once Data Sources have been created, this step is crucial for verifying their structure will accept the data that you need to input. The Nasdaq Metrio team perform initial checks, though your validation as a customer is crucial. Perform these steps in all languages if your account supports multiple languages.  It is best practice to involve data owners (those who know what data is available and the structure of it) at this stage.

1. Data Sources General Information

In the General Information section,

  • Review the name of the Data Source, edit if needed.
  • Review the category of the Data Source, edit if needed.

2. Data Sources Structure

In the Data section, click Add data> Manual data entry to explore the attributes:

  • Check if all the attributes (columns) you need are present and if they accept the data types you need (e.g. date, text/string, number, list item). Edit in the Structure section, if needed. In the Structure section, you can modify the attributes' order, data type and name (which is how the header of the column will be named) as well as add new attributes or delete existing ones.
  • Check the attributes that have Lists, verify that all your needed list items are there. To view all available items in a List in a spreadsheet, click Add data> Import and download the import template. Lists items will be in the second tab of the downloaded spreadsheet called Choices. If List items are missing or need to be edited, add or edit them in List Manager. If applicable, enter their translations.
  • Check if all the attributes that should be set as Key Attributes are done correctly (reminder: key attributes are marked with two purple asterisks, they control what the system will flag as a duplicate row, no two rows with the same combination data in the key attributes will be allowed at data entry). Edit in the Structure section, if needed.
  • Check if all the attributes that should be set as Required are done correctly (marked with one asterisk). Edit in the Structure section, if needed. Key Attributes are also required by default.

3. Data Sources Collection Guidance

In the Collection information section, add instructions in preparation for delegating data collection.
